Prasino uRBAN pLANTER SYSTEM
Prasino is a water irrigation system that's used in urban areas and cities. Cities with poor drainage systems often get flooded by rain or snow melts. Lack of green space also creates poor air quality and lacks aesthetic appeal to its citizens. Planters with integrated water filtration are one solution to over backed-up drainage systems. By adding multi-functional solutions to streets, we save space and create sustainable experiences.
Prasino is a system that achieves one goal: to recycle water to promote green spaces
This is the system and its two applications:
The System
A bio-filter pumps excess rainwater from drainage systems to prevent street flooding. It pumps this rainwater into plant life by nourishing roots as needed. This is done with trees, shrugs, flowerbeds, and bushes. By reusing this water, it does not overload the drainage system below. This puts it to use without it getting wasted or risking floods to the street or in homes.
The Planter
This planter combines street furniture into one outdoor experience while using the system. This provides a green space to enjoy, a bench, and a bike rack to enhance the quality of life in cities. The filtration system is located under the tree, pumping water and feeding roots. The bike rack is retractable to save space and for users to know when one is available. This provides a spot where citizens can congregate and enjoy nature.
The Bus Shelter
The same filtration system is found in streetcar shelters. The filtration system is underground, pumping water and feeding roots. The shelter has allocated space for planters and encourages green space in cities.
