Flippin’ Tables

Flippin’ Tables is a brand I created back in 2019. It’s was a furniture design company that gave discarded or thrifted vintage furniture a new shot at life. This idea started when I moved back into the area I grew up in as a child.

Leslieville is an artsy neighbourhood in Toronto that has a rustic vibe that has always inspired me. I would go on walks and notice excellent vintage furniture left on the curb. I started fixing them up and repainting them. Thus Flippin’ Tables was born.

The name came from a well-known internet meme of a stick figure flipping a table. Wanting to cater to a younger demographic (aka Millennials or Gen Z), I wanted the name to be memorable. Retro or vintage has made a comeback with these demographics, so it was fitting.

By February 2020, I had gotten my collection into two stores with a total of 12 pieces.

After the pandemic hit, both stores, but unfortunately, had to shut down. The furniture I still had on hand got donated to Habitat for Humanity Restore, where they are resold at a lower price point for those in need.

You can say this project came full circle!
